$5 A Day Adsense Site: Case Study – Part 3

Hi, welcome to part 3 of the $5 Formula Case Study. Before jumping into this part it’s a good idea to read the other parts:

$5 A Day Adsense Site: Case Study – Part 1

$5 A Day Adsense Site: Case Study – Part 2

$5 A Day Adsense Site: Case Study – Part 3

$5 A Day Adsense Site: Case Study – Part 4

This case study is based on the absolutely excellent $5 Mini Site Formula by Josh Spaulding and the $5 Formula Video adaptation by Mark Mason.

Adding The Articles To The Site

I actually did this just over a week ago but have been struggling to get time to write this post. Simply I took the 6 articles that I asked the writer to write for the blog and posted them to the site with no images. I put them in some basic categories but did not add any tags, although can’t see a problem with adding a few.

eat-screenshot

Luckily in the last week Google has indexed my articles and even with no link building or anything I got my first click today… It was just under the $1 that we was aiming for (I hope this isn’t against Adsense T&C’s saying that!).

The blog is ranking on the 2nd page of Google for the main keyword “Effective Acne Treatment” so I am confident that after the articles are ranking that I can rank on page 1.

Submitting Articles to The Main Directories

The formula suggests that you submit half of your 20 articles to Josh’s top 3 directories. This may change in the future but right now Josh suggests: EzineArticles.com, ArticleDashboard.com, Amazines.com. In my experience Ezine is the brings the most traffic and the highest rankings.

Each article also needs an abstract that I quickly write. For example for the first article “Getting Rid Of Acne Scars, My Tips” the abstract is:

I had pretty bad acne as a teenager and this puts me in the position to give some great tips for getting rid of acne scars.

So read on and see how this article can help you…

Also probably the MOST important part is getting a decent signature. This appears at the bottom of the article and allows readers to click through and hopefully click on useful Adsense ads. Here is an example.

Get More Effective Acne Treatment advice including information on Acne Sulfur Treatment and much more.

I will probably keep this mostly the same for all articles sometimes changing the 2nd link to get link backs to all posts on the blog.

Submitting Articles to The Other Directories

After you have submitted your 20 articles to the top 3, The formula suggest that you take 10 of those articles and submit them to another 20-40 lesser directories. This is part of the formula that I have never strictly followed due to work load. However I bit the bullet and purchased an absolutely awesome product called Automatic Article Submitter by an Italin programmer named Milan.

I have set up roughly 50 directories using Automatic Article Submitter in a group. I chose them randomly from a list of hundreds taking directories with a PR of 3-5. I started with 50 as I think some directories may not accept the articles or work properly,,, no fault of the software.

Using the software I was able to set up accounts in about an hour and also it has a bulit in function to confirm all the emails that come through in one click. This feature is something I have seen no where else!

The software cuts down the time dramatically and makes the task easy.

aas-example

I have only submitted 2 articles at time of publishing this article but over the next day or so I will get all 20 submitted and then we should start seeing results in a few days.

Link Building

The article submitting should take care of most of the links we need but I will also just add a few links to the blog from some of my sites and link swaps. The formula does not say to do this but it can’t hurt and it’s just common sense.

That’s about it for today. The formula is pretty much complete so just waiting for the results now….

Thanks for the update Forest! The $5 formula is a great way to make passive income. :) You’re off to a great start with that close to $1 click. It will be great to read updates on traffic flow and click rates.

Yep I am looking forward to it… I have over half of the articles subbed to the top 3 now… Just waiting on approval.

I’ll finish the rest today and then start the subbing to top 20-40.

So far no one has sabotaged this case study so all is well.

  2. forest_parks (Reply) on Monday 15, 2009

No probs… We shall see how this formula works out in a week or so.

I know that Griz recommends GoArticles, possibly because they allow you to link in the first paragraph which EzineArticles and many others do not.

As for submitting to all those directories, can you submit the same article to multiple directories, or do you have to spin them to appear new for each one? Because, if you can submit the same one over and over, that would really reduce the workload.

The formula says you can submit the articles unchanged to all directories… GoArticles is one of the directories I am using for the top 20-40 part however I have my link at the bottom of the article.

      • Bank CD Rates (1 comments.) (Reply) on Monday 15, 2009

The reason for GoArticles and the importance of the link in the paragraph is if someone scrapes your article, the link in the first paragraph will most likely be retained, even though the bio is often left off.

Well done, Foest! Nice to see and hear of your progress on the $5 a day case study. Looking forward to more.

Is it really necessary to submit so many articles to the article directories? If so. Wow! Never knew it took this many.

I’m just following the formula and this method suggests using this many articles…. So hopefully I will have the answer to your question very soon.

    Hi!

Well i am thinking about this method for a quite a lot of time now… At the moment i am searching for good niches and paying keywords and i also buy one adsense good WP template… I also set my budget to 100$ for content, because i already have domain and hosting. Any clickes on your adsense from 5$ formula ?

    Thanx!

    • forest_parks (Reply) on Monday 15, 2009

      Hey,

I have a had a few clicks but just waiting for Google to rank everything and hopefully we will reach the $5 a day….

$100 for articles is doable but I would also look at writing some yourself to save a little cash on your first few niche sites.

    Hey

Thats good work. $5 a day for relatively liitle work is good, and getting a 2nd page result isn’t bad considering no links.

Links are very importtant to google i think, and not just any old link either. Anyone can go and get 100 poor quality links but that isn’t really going to help you get ranked high.

Good luck I’m very interested in seeing your results.

    • forest_parks (Reply) on Monday 15, 2009

Thanks… Hopefully I will pick this back up and finish it soon. I have just been away too much recently.

  12. Great post. It should be called easy seo, because this is a great formula to get high rankings in the search engines. Thanks.

    Hi Forest,

I see you are already on the article submission phase.
Just wanted to suggest submitting by hand to the top
    3 article directories: EzineArticles.com, ArticleBase.com
and GoArticles.com before mass distributing them.

I’ve noticed these three directories consistently rank higher
in my experience. However, you might be just submitting
to dirs solely for the backlinks, not ranking of the article
    at the directory site.

    Better and better,

    Narek Gabrielyan

    P.S. I would recommend ArticleMarketer.com for much
    serous projects…

  14. Narek Gabrielyan (6 comments.) (Reply) on Monday 15, 2009

    One more thing.

I know that the formula might not talk
about this, but pinging the RSS after
each post would make a big difference
in the time it takes for the pages to
get indexed. I use Pingomatic.com and
    iPings.com sometimes…

    Better and better,

Thanks very much… I used the top 3 suggested by the formula for the point of the case study but do use others on other projects.

Automatic Article Submitter truly is awesome and is a little pricy but does a lot more than the other submitters, in my opinion.

Thanks very very much again for your comments. Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to them all. I have been on vacation.

This really looks intriguing – I also downloaded the (free) report and watched the (free) video. Both are really good and are worth quite a bit more than that (free).

I remember seeing mini-site creation reports years ago that initially sold for $97 and they sold like crazy.

Looking forward to seeing the results (though I’ve noticed that you are on the first page for one of your keywords) over the long term. I’ve decided to try this out as well and just started writing content… we’ll see how it goes!

      Great stuff Mohammed.

I really need to get back on and finish this case study up but my recent move to Egypt got in the way of everything a little bit. Hopefully next week I will be working on this again.

Keep me informed as to how yours is going and let me know if you need any help.

Thanks – I certainly will. Egypt! Now that would be quite an adventure. Without getting into the politics of all of it, North American Muslims seem to have a tricky time in any Middle Eastern country or country that hosts a large Muslim population. Years ago my wife and I went to Syria and customs at the airport “held” us. In case anyone is wondering, most of the customs offices in ME countries are manned by the army and these guys are huge and are more than happy to display their weapons.

    • forest_parks (Reply) on Monday 15, 2009

Oh!!! That really sucks :( . It’s sad that anyone should every be treated any different for any reason, let alone their religion.

When I was living in Canada I used to pass over to USA quite a lot. I ended up with a bit of hassle, for no reason, from the customs officials there.

So far Egypt has been pretty good to me…

      No problem.

Yeah I have heard that American Muslims can get a hard time… Non Muslims seem to get it easy here in Egypt or basically anyone white gets extra special treatment in restaurants and things…. That really pisses me off! I want to be treated well but the Egyptians should be treated just as well…. if they are being treated like crap then I should be too!

Saying that a european/american woman alone can get a lot of harassment here which is never nice. There is plenty of bad here but plenty of good too… Like anywhere I guess!
