….That makes GimmieSomethingToEat.com a website after my own heart. Fluffy Jon and Lil Greg have crafted a simple idea into a cool and interesting website that definitely brings an original twist to an overpopulated niche.
What is GimmieSomethingToEat.com
The idea of the website is very simple. You send them some food, then Lil Greg and Fluffy Jon document and critique the food item you sent during an episode of the their show. If you own a food establishment they also offer to come and test out your delights, as long as you pay travel and food expenses.
You also have the option to pay $1 per day to sponsor the show. Money earned from sponsorship is split to give them a little cash to keep the site running and the rest is donated to a local food bank.
I wish I had thought of this business plan as I love eating new food….
What I think of the GimmieSomethingToEat.com…
After receiving the offer to review I went straight to the site and was immediately impressed with clean, easy and well designed layout. The cartoon logo is modern and cool and the site offers all the basics there in front of you.
A quick explanation of what the site offers please a great sidebar use of the Featured Content Gallery Plugin site above the fold and immediately let you know what’s going on.
Each episode offers a video and selection of photos and and definitely offers the sponsor and food supplier great value for their contribution. Lil Greg and Fluffy Jon have great interaction and in some ways reminded me of the Myth Busters. Watching two tattooed guys eating free food could become quickly boring but the episodes are funny and short enough to hold your attention. Well done guys, you have earned a new subscriber here.
The one thing that really grabbed me with this site is the fact that ultimately they will be helping their hobby and business plus their local foodbank. I am a big believer that where possible wealth should be shared.
What I disliked
I didn’t really want to write anything negative about the site but a good review has to look at the best and worst to give it’s real value.
A few of the videos have moments of pause and slight awkwardness. I personally think these could easily be edited out to make the epsidoes a little more snappy. I also think that it would be a good idea to post the nutrition info of the product along with each episode.
What can we, as bloggers, learn from GimmieSomethingToEat.com?
When creating a new site, especially your first site, I think it pays to stick to a few simple rules.
- Find a niche related to what you like doing
- Keep your layout and content simple
- Do something fun
- Work on making a small amount of cash
GimmieSomethingToEat.com does all of this. They have also found an innovative approach to an overcrowded niche and will hopefully be able to use viral media (their video’s) to break out and gain a strong following.
Both guys are playing to their strengths… They seem to be eating, talking about eating and bantering with each other. Just like any good duo they have their plan simple and original.
They seem like they genuingly want to help their local food banks and this appeals a lot to me and was an important part of winning my subscription. If your site helps anyone out make sure you shout about it.

I sent them some corn soup, some cookies (However the packet was open as I ate some, and as it’s been tampered they won’t eat it now!! Fair enough), Some seasame rice crackers and poutine gracy which is served over fried.
