A new chapter for Real Blogging Tips…

Hello everyone, my name is Jeni Larson and as Forest said, I’ll be taking over Real Blogging Tips.  Not to worry, he’ll be back for frequent guest posts and he is also helping me with a few case study sites that will be shared here.  Plenty of opportunity to harass him.

Some of you already know me, or have seen me around the web.  For those of you I haven’t met yet, I’ll tell you a little about myself.  I’m known as Brilliant Jeni, and while I’m told I’m rather clever, the name is really just a nickname from my Rutgers days.  I’m originally from OC, California and currently live in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  I also have a home in Denver, and I travel frequently- in fact, one of my blogs covers my travels, but I’ll be sharing my sites with you as examples later.

I’ve been a full time blogger and web publisher since April of 2007, the best career choice I could have ever made.  It has allowed me to work for myself, have a flexible schedule, travel monthly, and make 6 figures many times over.  Best of all, it’s something I really love so I’ve been happy to spend much of my time coaching new and established bloggers.

I don’t consider myself an MMO blogging guru.  In fact, I’m still learning new things every week, experimenting, and modifying my own strategies constantly.  I can, however, say that I know enough to make $60,000 a month- my estimated income for the month of March 2010.  And, I know enough to make that on sites I haven’t touched in months.  I’m definitely a fan of passive income blogging strategies, no matter which ad network for affiliate program I’m working with.  Sorry Tim, but 4 hours a week is just too much for me!  AdSense snapshot from 2009-2010:

Make money online blogging with adsense - brilliant jeni

While MMO Blogging is definitely my forte, I’m also looking forward to sharing blogging tips on SEO, keyword research strategies, backlinking, blogging software, troubleshooting, networking… this list could go on for a while.  If you have specific topics you’d like covered, just let me know.   If you have questions, now or later, drop them in comments anytime and I’ll respond.  Looking forward to meeting you all and learning a lot-  Happy blogging!

On twitter… @brilliantjeni – send me a knock knock joke or such nonsense so I know to follow you back.  ;)

    • brilliantjeni (Reply) on Friday 19, 2010

Yeah, this last earnings jump was even more than I expected. If you remember, I’d made a few slight tweaks last Fall, preparing for the New Year’s traffic spike I predicted. Then I didn’t touch it again until last month, so obviously I made the right changes. Next month should clear $60k, so I’m pretty excited.

There’s one more change I’d like to try, but going to wait until I have Ian and Jarret around in case I screw up the coding (again) lol My MMO strategies are tight but my coding skills bite.

Then it hit me- April is my AdSensiversary- it was 3 years ago this month that I started with AdSense and blogging. My first goal, believe it or not, was to make $33 USD a day. I don’t think I could have imagined that I’d be making a few thousand a day, just 3 years later. You may just find yourself in that boat too ;)

looking forward to getting started and grateful for the link but techniphobically overwhlemed. I don’t even know what MMO blogging is!
Is there a ‘Blogging for Dummies’ somewhere?

    • brilliantjeni (Reply) on Friday 19, 2010

      Make Money Online = MMO.

There is a blogging for dummies, but not sure that would be my first recommendation. AdSense Code by Joel Comm is great for familiarizing yourself with the basics of MMO Blogging. 6 Figure Blogging by Darren Rowse & Chris Garrett is another good one for learning basics. I have yet to find a single resource that covers A to Z about blogging- if there was, it would be larger than a copy of Pride and Prejudice!

Best option is to subscribe to the pros who teach MMO Blogging. Myself, Darren Rowse, Shoemoney, John Chow, Yaro, JenSense, CopyBlogger… there are good handful of really successful bloggers out there now, some who don’t mind sharing their secrets. ;)

This year, my payments have gone up 10k each month- this month, I will earn over $70k, about $68k of that is from AdSense. Honestly, this keyword strategy is the first step to how I make that. I’ll be posting an a to z of what I do when launching a new site but since most of my previous readers are new to blogging, this will be somewhat basic to avoid confusion. For advanced strategies, I’ll be sharing those here. If you have suggestions for post topics, by all means let me know.

That’s kinda neat. I didn’t know you could do that. A couple JS includes and a quick call to the API. Though wouldn’t you need to apply some sort of caching system? The user timeline call is rate limited, and it looks like you’re calling the API on every page load.

It seams to be so much easier, for your guys blogging about blogging to get, some income from the blogs, i have tried Adsense with out to much success, i have considered affiliate programs but in my blogging niche it seams difficult to find something useful.

    • brilliantjeni (Reply) on Friday 19, 2010

Actually, blogging about blogging pays little more than that warm fuzzy feeling I get from helping other bloggers. :)

This site isn’t currently monetized at all. I will be adding AdSense soon but to be honest, I just like the channel stats- not really looking to make anything here.

For AdSense, your best bet is always going to be in highh-demand content niches. Right now, there are TONS of these but this will get more challenging as more people turn to the web for money opportunities.

White Board, I just took a look at your site- looks great! In fact, it looks so great, it almost makes me cry not to see AdSense on it! Not sure if you’ll check back here, but definitely curious to hear if you’ve tried ads on the site already? and what kind of traffic you’re getting atm?

  34. white board (Reply) on Friday 19, 2010
