Oh wow, people actually come to this page!
I better get on with the business of explaining who on earth I am then…
Well I am Forest, Forest Parks. I’m an English guy who used to be a graphic designer and has now managed to wangle a pretty snazzy job working for myself, full time online.
I blog, make graphics for other people’s blogs and generally publish content here there and everywhere.
So How Did All This Start?
A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away…. Ok it’s not that fun. A few years ago, 2006 is my memory serves me, I came across something called a blog. At the time I was freelancing in Graphic Design as a large format graphic artworker so didn’t really know too much about this interweb thingy and these blogs. After one captivating late night of constant reading, about the possibility that I could make some cash online with these blogs, I decided I had to know more!
During the next few months, armed with a blogger blog, an adsense account and a lot of reading I made a whopping $3 or $4!
I knew I was doing something wrong but I persisted, eventually moving up to self hosted wordpress, learning my way around HTML and CSS and generally starting to ‘Get’ the whole blogging thing.
As time wore on I managed to bag some clients that I now do regular graphic and blog work for. I learned how to flip websites and monetize my blogs through Google Adsense and affiliate programs.
While all this was happening I had relocated from London, UK to Montreal, Canada where I was working in a kitchen as a prep chef. Not enjoying it too much and realising that I had a pretty frugal lifestyle in Montreal I made the leap of faith and went full time online. That was March 2007 and I have not looked back since!
Why Am I Blogging Here?
As many of you know this blog was originally the personal blog of Big Ben Patton. Like many of you, I was a reader and over time Ben has also become a client of mine. He was a little sick of blogging and he sold the site…. A few months later the site came back into his hands and he attempted to start it up again… But he felt he did not want to do it anymore and through what started out as a flippant comment from Ben about me buying the blog…. I ended up actually buying it from him.
Along with the sale he also sold me the domain name that this blog now resides on. With a little 301 redirect magic I changed the domain and have been blogging about blogging since.
Phew… I am bet you are glad I have stopped blabbing? I would love to know what you think of the site and how it can be improved.
