OK I want to thank Max and Simon for BlogGears.Com this is a very wonderful concept. I have wanted to get a short video out for the site now since pre-launch but due to forces beyond my control (work) I have been unable to get this finished until tonight. Now let me tell you about an issue I am having and lets see if any of Big Ben Patton’s Place readers can help Big Ben out. If you can free follow on text link in my blogroll.
Every single one of my digital cameras record using .mov format for movies. This in itself is probably due to the fact that the overwhelming majority of creative types have a mac for all this type of work. While I am still waiting for Mac to let me Demo a system I am holding off on spending the cash as I have a wonderful gaming desktop machine I built and a Sony Vaio Laptop. Back to the issue at hand. No program I have come across allows me to edit .mov files the way I need to. And the converters make my videos lose quite a bit of quality. I want to edit it as a .mov or convert it to a quality .avi/.wmv. Tell me how.
Now This is just a short 25 second short promo for Big Ben Patton’s Place. Soon as I get this .mov debacle solved I will be making a full length promo outlining why a person should stop by here and see what is going on.

HEy ben you may try camtasia, i think they have a free demo or did for a bit, I do my vids on my sony digi cam so I know what you mean. Though mine are saved as mpegs. So I dont have that problem im guessing you’re expereinecing. Can you change the way your cam out puts the vids?

Unfortunately I can not, atleast not that is self evident at this point. I may look into buying a cam that allows.

Hey thought I’d drop back in to see if you figured out your cam thingy. I just checked our sony cyber shot , in the settings the video is outputting as NTSC. I dont know if your cam has that setting? But Im guessing thats what allows the vids to show as mpegs. But I will say I am pretty pleased with the sony cybershot. I had to go get another memmory stick which wasnt exactly cheap but was well worth it.

The camera is set to ntsc thats just the color standard vs the Euro PAL config. No dice on this camera its made by GE, was a cheap 7mpix. Looking for a new camera with option between recording formats!@
