Effective And Non-Invasive Blog Monetization

Posted on 16. Jun, 2008 by in Blogging Tips, Internet Marketing Tips

If you are serious, I mean really serious about making money with your blog then you will read this. So many times while I am surfing the blogosphere I see a plethora of sites which obviously have absolutely no clue how to non invasively monetize their blog. While for some this may be a choice, for the most part I feel like they may not know a better way, or possibly even know if the first place.

Making money with your blog through monetization is not just cutting and pasting ad codes from different networks and watching your profits soar. If it were I believe their would be several retired generations worth of internet marketers by now. Remember that the blogosphere is estimated to be growing by a hundred thousand or more blogs a day, and in this kind of cut throat competition you really have to pay attention to the small things so the big things can even have a chance to do their job and do it right. Your content will never be read if your ad placements, color schemes and even ad types are completely random and lacking taste.

The first words of advice I have is to avoid konterra. While this can make you a fair amount of money most people will lack the self control to keeping the amount of keywords low instead of a 50% + saturations rate. If you feel you can control yourself enough to run 10% total or less saturation then by all means try this method out as many of the top bloggers successfully employ this type of monetization in their blog. I am stressing the self control aspect of this though.

Lucky adsense is limited to three per page. Please take the time to make a color scheme which atleast is in the same realm as the rest of your site. Oh yea please never use bright colors that are in bad taste with the rest of your site in hopes of getting my attention to look and possibly even click them. This is one of the single most reasons that so many people block ad sense ads all together. First stop being an ass and realize that people will click your ads if they are relevant, placed well and not to gaudy. It takes time yes, but the other so called surefire ways to six figure incomes just using old retarded ad saturation and off color schemes is dead, and I promise will put the first and last nail in the coffin for your blog.

It seems in recent history that most themes present the “private sponsorship ads” in a colum off to the right or left generally speakin which is great they have their own dedicated area. First please do not allow overly flashy or animated advertisements as you are making people pay less attention to your content and blog. This is not good as most of the time the overly animated and gaudy ads go to sites filled with such debauchery. Avoid them and demand a higher quality of advertisement. For now this is NOT the redlight district or the strip in Vegas. No need for all that garbage here.

Header and footer advertisements need to have the highest standards as often times more so than not these will be the first and last things a potential viewer could see, and trust me you do not want that to be a negative experience. This couple with your sites performance can completely and totally negate any positive impact any content your site has ever published.

These are just a few of the many points I have planned to share. Later this month I will share another batch of advanced non invasive advertising tips. In the mean time make sure you aren’t doing any of these and if you are just try out a chance and watch your analytics as well as your bottom line I can with almost absolute certainty predict they will only go up from here on out.

Good one Ben. When I first started, I had ads and other crap all over, then, I thought to myself ” would I read a site that looks like this?”

That’s when I cleaned house, and I still clean house on a weekly if not daily basis. Big flashy lights and colors only scream SPAM to most internet users, so why even employ such tactics?

I look forward to the rest of your info on this topic.

Absolutely agree with you JK. I was guilty of the same methods, and then one day it dawned on me that I would never click any of those types of ads. I know my advertising is stale atm, but the excuse remains that I am tied up in a move, I am posting from work in between projects just to keep up to date. I should be back online at home around the 20th this month. Expect a new ad scheme, and hopefully a twitter flash friends replacement. They stopped supporting it in the manner they had, but thier is a work around which can call the information directly from their DB. Should be fun.

I really can not wait to be setup at the new place so I can get back to promoting this blog and writing again.

I’ve never had a problem with seeing Kontera on a site as long as it is blended. The quantity of content links is not an issue, but that may be because I know what it is and not to click on it!

I agree totally with the blending comments though – hit me with reds and yellows and not only will I not click but I won’t be back either.

I have been SO impressed with your blog that I wanted to send you a quick note about how pleased I am with it. It’s rare that you find a blog with as much effort put on the articles. Thank you for sharing!
