I am not always sure of all the topics so i dont always feel I can really “add value” and improve upon the knowledge that the blog author has posted but sometimes i feel i can add to the discussion by a good question or some insight that may be entertaining or funny.
I can be pretty conceited sometimes but i am smart enough to know that some of the guys whose blogs I’m
reading are way more technically advanced or experienced than I am.
I hope that counts as ” adding value”

I get this a lot on my blog where people come along, not reading the post and submit a comment that really doesn’t add to anything.

Posts like “love the post” or “that is what I was thinking” are things that I seem to be coming up against more and more.

Totally agree with u. I get comments like: Hey great post or totally informative but couldn't understand the last paragraph and stuff like that. I usually ignore such comments.. While going thru other blogs I do thank the author if they provide good tips.. Besides that comments with excessive self linking is equal to spam.. I personally hate comments that don't bring anything to the discussion. My blog being do follow, I pay particular attention to the comments I approve because people tend to post "great post" just to get a backlink and it is really annoying. I think this is a big reason why a lot of bloggers have been disabling dofollow comments. There are so many tools out there now that enable people to comment without regards to the points you made in this post. Its kind of a shame as blogs were built on an alternative media principle that allowed people to share their opinions, but many people now just use them as a place to build links.

Okay, that comment was a joke lol, had to get ya buddy. But seriously, I agree man. Too many go about it with no clear plan in place. My thing is, I just like to network, I read something and if it sparks a comment I post it.

I’ve never liked the single word comments, if all I have to say is “good job” then I may as well leave that out. What’s the point? To be seen? No, I’d rather add value to the site, and be part of it’s community.

There are times where a post doesn’t even require much of a comment outside of a “great job” so, I’ll just leave it alone and go read the other posts that require or encourage a comment.

Loving your series this week man, good as usual.

I hope I do not do these often, I know I try to become a respected commentator throughout the blogosphere, but it can be hard.
I have never done a two word type comment.
I have not read all of the post, but I know the concept and my comment still ads value more than others.
I have never attacked anyone.
My comments mostly add value, I may have a fluff one here and there. but I usually have a good comment along with that (for example you ask a question, they answer, then you thank them).
I do not do excessive self linking, I rarely link to my site.
