Seems stuff of this nature is common , the deployment of vista was horrid. I am sure the Microsoft team will learn from this... no wait they wont, but on a softer note I will say before I started gaming again Vista was ok for me.

I seriously have no problem with Vista other than that it's slower than XP and can't connect to secured wireless connections (using my current hardware). That's actually pretty funny since it came with my laptop

I have Vista on my desktop computer (and XP still on my laptop since my initial foray into the wonderful world of Vista was anything short of wonderful) but I admit I'm getting used to it. The initial shock of having NOTHING supported (other than my printer) and the pain and cost of having to buy things for Vista (you know, like program and software updates) kept me angry for several months. But now, other than the fact that I've had some weird issue with Spider Solitaire and the other default games not working, I can't complain (knock on wood). It's not like I have time to play games anyway.

To be honest I have been using Vista for a few months now I started out with Home Basic, and recieved a complimentary Home Premium. If you running a decent processor single core with atleast 1gb of memory and something resembling a real video card you will be fine for day to day productivty and games that are a couple generations in tech old.

However that being said Gaming is a challenge for vista atm as it handles all the resources totally different than xp. For this reason you will need atleast 2GB of ram and I would recommend atleast an athlon64 4k single core and a really nice current or one generation video card back depening on the games you play.

For instance with an athlon64 3k and 1gb of memory and an x800xtpe video card , as well as a raptor 10k drive I can play eq2 at 1440x900 with balanced settings at around 20-25 fps.

I expect when I install my new hardware which is another 2gb of memory to make 3gb total and an athlon64 4k and lol a x3850 512mb card that I will see 40-60fps in High to ultra high settings. Vista really is not that bad so far in my opinion. Upon release though was another story, but then again so was XP as I recall.

Yea, I was very surprised to see him leave. I wonder what is in store for us next?

I'm an xp user... I don't know if I could handle Vista yet.

I agree he is. And his foundation is a model for others to build their own. As I had said he has the means and heart to help many people. And right now the world needs more folks like him.

Bill Gates sure is a marvelous person. Look at what he did to his foundation.

You have hit the nail on the head here once again. I too would love to hold Microsoft to the higher standard of actually trumping osx... But as we both know it will never happen for different reasons.

One can always hope though I suppose even if in vain...

Yeah man, It's been a long time coming. They way they (microsoft) do their os marketing hasn't really changed in years. If it flops, we rename it and fix what was broken lol, we'll see what windows 7 brings...my guess is, it will be nothing more than what Vista should have been, had they taken the time to do it right, instead of trying to trump the Mac OS...( which they can't in my humble opinion)

The thing is, once they release the new version, like all others before it...people will move on past the horrors of XP and embrace the new child! Oh how quickly we consumers forget!
