Leverage Social Media In Your Favor

Posted on 06. Aug, 2008 by in Blogging Tips

Today I wanted to put a couple of sites in front of you that can be considered both viral and social at the same time. I highly recommend if you want to promote your site to stop by and see whats cooking at BlogGears. This site lets you (the blogger) have 60-90 seconds to pitch your blog telling your potential readers who you are, what you do, and what makes you special. The video is then coupled with a description of your blog and shown to potential readers who can then vote on it (if they like it or not)., and comment It is a simple way to get the word out about your blog to readers in a different way.

For readers, the site offers a chance to find new and exciting blogs. Watch and learn about the face behind the blog. It allows you to screen blogs in a new way and find new favorites. You get the core ideas behind the blog while seeing the face behind the blog as well. It also allows you to give direct feedback about the blog via voting and commenting.

I feel confident that this project will take off with a little help from you guys. If you have a blog, mock up a video and submit it. There is no downside. You will get traffic to your site, readers and a nice back link as well (he he). Of course, you should all be browsing through and watching the videos on BlogGears at your leisure. There are already some great blogs up there.

If your not of the mind just yet to put a video out, and I know your asking where mine is (in production) you will have to wait a little bit, but I digress that if your not ready for video to head over to another friend of mine’s blog which is an audio take on things.

Ifthisblogcouldtalk.com allows you to submit recommendations for bloggers to be interviewed, and I am sure to help with launch that Joe will take volunteers as well. This allows you free exposure via a venue that would have otherwise been unavailable.

The underlying theme here is to find ways to put yourself, your brand, your blog, your product whatever it is that you need exposure to in front of eyes that are like sponges. These are powerful tools to put in your box for later and for now. While many might argue whether the ROI is worth it or not, I will say but one thing about that. It costs nothing but time, and by the ground work I have laid out here on this site since the start is simply put to spend an equal amount of time on content and promotion. This will only cut into your promotion time, but will pay back in time spent at least 2 fold as these sites are not deleting anything that you have done and provides you with a back link as well. I highly recommend you stop by and check these two shining examples out.

My interview should be up within the next 2 weeks depending on when Joe and I are able to be online at the same time. My video will be up as well within the next week or so.

I am curious as to any other social media outlets that you have used with any success and your opinions on the ones I have listed.

Keep in mind the moment you stop promoting and start solely relying on search engine traffic is the day you slow down in relative terms, at least for younger sites. Do not slow down or stand still to do so is to be left behind by your peers and the blogosphere.

Hey man! Thanks for the plug…I just recorded an interview today actually, so, they will start going live soon. Next week is the plan, but if not, definitely the week after.

Once they go live, there will be a new one every week!

Bloggears.com is a wonderful idea! I love it and think it will be huge…I think me and max need to cross promote as well, as evidenced in this post. Some may prefer one over the other..and some may want both!
