Musically Motivated Monday – What's the Matter?

Well, I nearly forgot to write this post. I just sat down to write a post about ways to make money online without a blog and then it dawned on me that it’s Monday again!
Days and time feel different here in Egypt. For a start the weekend here is Friday and Saturday, so Monday feels more like a Tuesday. Also it’s in the middle of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, so business and shops operate at the strangest times.
On Friday (I think!) I walked to my nearest Apple store (2 miles away) and it was closed even though it said it should be open on their door. I went two more times that day and still closed. Then I found their email and sent them a message. Turns out they were doing an 8:30pm to 2am shift that day!
Things have been good in the last week. I have had a $50 and $30 adsense day so it looks like my hard work and return to regular work may be starting to have a positive impact. Also I am finding that I have a good motivation level and of course music is always integral to this….
….Which leads me onto this weeks Musically Motivated Monday tune. I loved this band as a teenager and sadly they dispersed around 1996-98. Luckily for us they left a bunch of infectious motivating songs.

Good to hear from you. Has your adsense dropped or are you just having problems pushing it forward?
It has dropped a bit with the recession methinks – but them main problem is that since the best part of a year ago – when I moved my main adsense earning web site from ni-photos.jmcwd.com to irishviews.com, my traffic still has not fully recovered!
Hopefully since the summer is now pretty much over – the traffic will start coming back in September. (It needs to as I am now working for myself full time now…)
NB – I’ll maybe have another web site header/logo for you to do soon as well.. (I am going to try and become *the* authority web site for PPC in Northern Ireland with PPCNI.com)..
Hey Jordan,
When you did the move what did you do with the old domain? If you did a 301 redirect you should not have lost any authority or traffic. It may not be too late to put the 301 redirect on there as you may still have links lingering around the net… Let me know and if so I will get the code and some instructions for you to do that.

Ahh cool, I am sure you can become the authority with a bit of work. I am trying to become an authority in the frugal niche and it’s bloody hard with a lot of competition. However I am slowly getting more and more high rankings.
I imagine there is a lot of competition in ‘frugal’….
The good thing about PPC in N.I. is that there is no competition worth talking about and yet the eCPMs look like they may be pretty good..
Re 301 – I did a 301 with everything done 100% by the book. My ‘Web’ ranking was not affected, but Google Image search which is where more than 50% of my traffic came from was a different story.. It can take 4 months or more for images to reappear there (if you are lucky), and some of my images are still nowhere near where they were before.
So moral of story – is you rely on Google Image Search for traffic DO NOT move your web site..

Most of the time we concentrate on the content of the website for optimization and completely ignore Images which are also an important part. There are growing number of web users using image search, if you reach the top of the image search in the search engines, its can generate more relevant traffic to your website.

Thanks, I agree but sadly image search does not direct straight to the website. I wish Google would change that!
It is a part of search that is shrouded in secrecy. Try searching google for a definitve guide on how a 301 redirect affect Google Image Search, and see what you find (nothing worth talking about).
It is on its way up and the move is definitely going to help my revenue in the long run, but I jsut timed it really badly (just before I quit my full time job!)
Glad you are getting on well in Egypt. Have you had food poisoning yet?
I guess it’s not at the top of most Internet Marketers problems so it’s not investigated often and Google doesn’t let any info out about these things
The food here is fine. I am still adjusting a little but eating locally isn’t a real problem and it’s a lot cheaper!

Some strange trading hours you mentioned there for sure…can’t imagine going shopping at midnight although I have done that at Christmas time before. Ugh won’t be long and I’ll be at that again come to think of it!
