I started this weekly Monday post on one of my other blogs “TheRandomForest.com” but as I will be putting much of my attention here on this site I thought that it would be cool to migrate the idea over here.
Mondays are always hard for me. Even though I no longer keep a completely rigid work schedule conditioning throughout my childhood and early working years have led my head to believe that Monday morning is the worst time of the week, so whenever I start my work on a Monday morning I always crank up the music, reply to the personal emails that I missed on the weekend and then dive head first into my work schedule…. Music is a big motivation for me and it always sets me on the right track for the week.
I think everyone should listen to music whilst blogging and working online….. It definitely keeps me going when I have been working long hours and need to finish that last post.
David Bowie: The Man Who Sold The World
The Man Who Sold The World – Lyrics:
We passed upon the stair, we spoke of was and when
Although I wasn’t there, he said I was his friend
Which came as some surprise I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone, a long long time agoOh no, not me
I never lost control
You’re face to face
With The Man Who Sold The WorldI laughed and shook his hand, and made my way back home
I searched for form and land, for years and years I roamedI gazed a gazely stare at all the millions here
We must have died alone, a long long time agoWho knows? not me
We never lost control
You’re face to face

The nirvana version of this song was the first song to pop up this morning on my LastFM radio player but I thought it would be cool to give credit to the original. I love this song in both the Nirvana and Bowie varieties and it’s definitely set me in a good mood for the upcoming day.
What music motivates you to get on with things?
This week on Real Blogging Tips I am hoping to bring you a video on how to update to the latest version of wordpress. This is easy but I noticed a few of my readers being a little shy about it.
I also plan to bring a post about cloaking your affiliate links and will be planning the post related to changing your blogs URL.
Anything else you would like to see just leave a comment and I will add it to the posting schedule.
I hope you have a great week and I look forward to your comments.
PS: I found a bunch of legit comments hiding in my spam folder, I have approved them all now, will be more vigilant and am going to make sure everyone gets an answer

Ah that is one thing I can never do listen to music AND work, I can watch videos and work so normally I have a standup show running while I work but with music I don’t know, to distracting for me!
I guess not everyone is like me, so I shouldn’t preach the need to have to listen to music
.
I love listening to stand up whilst working too. Who is your favorite comedian to listen to?
I like a broad spectrum but love listening to things like Lee Evans, Billy Connely, Bill Hicks, Chris Rock and some other little British acts that not many people have heard of.
I listen to them if they are good
currently Bill Balley and Ed Byrne are residing in my DVD drive; but usually fire up iPlayer and watch ‘live at the Apollo’
They are all great comedians… Bill Bailey has been a fave of mine for years… Have you seen him in the film Hot Fuzz?
good article , thanks
Thanks Marco.
I don’t know but music distracts me while doing my work . and I am really looking forward for the blog post on cloaking of affiliate links
Your the second person who has said that in response to this post! Suprises me
.
The affiliate link post is written, just needs a tidy up, so will try and post tomorrow morning.
I hate Mondays as well. I do always try and do a bit of work on a Sunday so that Mondays never seem sooo bad! I think after a lovely relaxing weekend, Mondays are really awful and everyone is right to hate them!
Ha ha, great idea. I tend to work a bit 7 days a week… I am addicted to my work I guess… Drives my girlfriend nuts so I am trying to contain my work to reasonable working hours.
David Bowie rocks always gets me motivated gotta put this song on my iphone lol!
Ever since I saw Bowie in Zoolander and Extras he has risen to godly status in my book
.
I remember he said in an interview “I’m sick of kids coming up to me and saying, it’s really cool that you covered Nirvana!”…. That cracked me up.
I found that listening to simple, dynamic, catchy music (like millencolin, social distortion) makes me work twice as fast. I don’t know why that is but it works.
Ha ha… Maybe you should experiment and see if you can raise that production rate even more!! Try some techno or thrash metal
Haha, that’s something… different.
I love listening to music to get me pumped for working and stuff, and mondays are a really bad day, so im glad you have brought this in
Thanks, what kind of music do you listen to?
hey..i really like this type music.it is very amazing song…
Thanks
