Questions And Answers Round 2

Posted on 21. Sep, 2008 by in Q+A

Alright another productive batch of questions. Hopefully my answers will satisfy the curiosity which brought about the said questions. This time their was nothing off limits just to make it a bit more interesting.

Let’s get right into the thick of it!

Ryan McLean

Questions, Questions, Let me think

1. I have set myself the impossible task of earning $1,400 per month from my blog http://www.smarterwealth.net and from my newsletter subscribers (currently about 120). I need to increase my readership a lot (currently about 150 uniques per day) and I want to know how I can go from where I am now to earning $1,400 per month in just 3 months. What strategies would you recommend

2. How much money exactly do you make online per month and how much is from this blog and how much is from other places.

A:

1. Nothing is impossible unless you believe it to be. As long as your follow the cosmic rules of things inside the 11 dimensions of space which we live inside you should be good. $1400 a month is a great goal. Start with a goal of making $1 per subscriber for the first month, if you have already surpassed that earning potential try $5 per subscriber. Remember the power is in the list! Be vigilant! But be realistic, quality content and super promotional campaigns are a great first step, guest posting, and paid plugs as well in key places will give you an edge as well. Contests, and giveaways also tend to bring people in.

2. At the moment My blog is my primary source of online income, reviews, ad’s and plugs. Sometimes I do private work for others such as ghost writing posts for other blogs, amongst other similar things. I earned roughly $300 last month from this blog both directly and indirectly. I will more than likely begin disclosing at the end of this month in detail :)

Hello Ben, I have a question for you :) .

1. With all the work that one most do in a day to manage and maintain a blog, and a life. How much do you organize your time and how much time a day do you work on your blog?

I’d also like to mention that I’m having my own Q and A series at my blog. If you mentioned something to Ben, You can get my opinion as well if you would like.

Thanks Ben, look forward to some amazing answers :) .

A:

The last two weeks have been especially hectic for me, so I will base this answer off the time before the last two weeks. I generally sleep 6 hours a night, 8-10 hours for day job, 30 mins for commute both ways, 30 min for showers and hygiene, etc. This leaves me with 6-8 hours. Generally half of that is spent with the wife doing things. Which leaves me with 3-4 hours a day during the normal workweek to dedicate to my online en devours. On the week ends it just depends I am prepping to race in SCCA with my mr2, and of course the wife and I visit family, and spend time together, the other 40-50% I spend gaming or with my online money making endeavors.

How did you make money with your blog when it was fairly new? And how do you make money with it now?

My blog, The BlackhatWay is only a few months old, but it’s growing pretty fast.

I would love to monetize it, just enough to pay the hosting fees and competition prizes. I just don’t want to sell any crap to my readers.

A: When my blog was very new I made the majority of my money by copy writing for others, such as blog posts or sales copy. I also made a substantial amount from reviews. Now I make money from posts, sales copy, reviews, and mostly ad sales.

I am the same way, as you can see my reviews are limited and my advertising is not inside the content at all. I refuse to go over the top with that as it just drives people away. They need to be able to concentrate on whats important, and hopefully thats the content, if not they will see this and leave.

What can you suggest to a blogger that run out of ideas.

A: Google is awesome, other blogs, Questions + Answer sessions and random reviews. The questions and answers will offer a direct answer for the person who asked, but the oppurtunity to expand oh say a whole post on it? That is the power of user driven content, much like a message board. Make sure you stay diversified because sometimes the reader is not even sure what they want! They are just hungry for content!

When your online do you have a set schedule? also how many hours per day do you stay online? How much is to much?

A: This is a great question. I often wonder this about the bloggers that I know! In the past I have tried to maintain a schedule but lately with things so hectic I have been shooting from the hip. As you can sell a schedule of some sort is going to benefit you in reguards to acheiving your goals in a timely manner. Generally I spend 4-8 hours a day online in one form or another for misc work.

To much is when you cease to take care of your normal obligations, shower? family? work? etc.

I get bogus email subscriptions, thing like…

edfhksjfh@gmail.com

What are these and where do they come from?

And how can I get access to these signups on my blog because there are genuine ones in there as well and I want to send them emails.

Awesome Ben.

A: I have a few of these myself and have always wondered why anyone would waste their time entering an email address that will not count for the feed number nor get them any of the news. Best thing is to redouble your efforts and give crystal clear instructions on how to sign up and why they should. This usually works.

Great questions everyone! I hope I was able to answer them with answers as great as they questions were. Happy Blogging.

Thanks for the answer Ben, I can’t understand their logic in doing it either. I still don’t know how to access those addresses so that I can email them. I am sure I will find a way someday.

I DO NOT consider myself a blogger. I am primarily a network marketer using the internet and it’s tools (blogs, social networks etc) as a way to build business. So I don’t blog or post for the same reasons a blogger would.

You mention in a reply on this page that the power is in the list. As a person who has a blog but is not a blogger but rather an MLMer, I don’t understand why bloggers don’t take more advantage of the list building capabilities of an online MLM business. After all… other people will build your list for you.

I see MLM and blogging as a strategic way to position yourself for financial success. I have linked to an article on my blog if anyone is interested in this strategy.

I would love to hear your comments on this topic.

    Great work Ben.

    Ben,

You seem to plan your days out, but have a whole lot going. I can relate to that.

Good stuff with the Q & A, it is really a strong serious and gets into a lot of topics that your readers must be curious about.
