Today is a good day. Why you might ask? Because I have found the ever elusive muse which I have been missing. Generally I have been able to keep up posting daily for roughly the last six months. This being said halfway through this month I fell off the horse a bit. I am a firm believer of not posting when you do not have anything to say. I would not want to waste your time and I surely would not want to just publish some garbage to say I have been posting.
This is going to be an all in wonder kind of post. Lot’s going on all around in the blogosphere, a page rank update, OIO Publisher 2.0 the motive network, and well I got a dog too, or well my wife did which is kind of the same. You will surely laugh at the poor bugger, but it sure is cute and gives my cat’s pretty good hell.
First let’s talk about the contest this month I want to take this time to thank the Market Leverage team for providing sponsorship to Big Ben Patton’s Place. I also want to thank Erik, Dina, and Rebecca for helping me out with various creatives for the site and for providing the Eeepc award to one of my lucky lucky readers. If any of you have not yet signed up with Market Leverage I suggest you do it now, your missing out on a great chance to work with the best in the industry as far as CPA networks go. Get with the program and make a few bucks in the process!
It will probably take me at least a day to gather and divvy up the entries and check against the feedburner email subscriptions and other various confirmations, but I plan to announce the winner the 2nd of October. And wow, it is already just about time for halloween, and all the other wonderful holidays! While I enjoy summer weather the most, I enjoy the friends and family of the fall holidays more than anything.
Tomorrow I will be posting a review of the motive network. This network is pretty dam cool with some nifty features for those of us monetizing our blogs or other sites. Also OiO publisher has released version 2.0 I should be publishing a full length review sometime later this week after I have had time to use it and compare it to the old version.
Once again Google has handed out the new pageranks, and it seems overall that this time they were a bit less forgiving than the last. As you can tell I was slapped down to a PR2 from PR3. I already know why or at least I believe I do and I should have a wonderful little series of posts concerning how to slap proof your own site. Mine has to do with recent changes to SEO and a pile of errors in google webmaster tools.
I look forward to this upcoming week especially since my muse has returned and I have some pretty decent content to write about for everyone.
Keep Blogging!

Haha…
Sad to hear you got slapped, but it’s great that you’re sharing the knowledge with us so we can avoid it.
Cheers to your return!
I have had the same misfortune if you will as you, though my voice was not heard for a month.
I am sad though I could not participate in the contest, now I am pretty sure I will not be the winner.
Kudos for shotgun on PR update! Seems a little bit less frenzied out there this time round.
I’ve already had a good day, now all my new pages and sites have been bumped to 2 and 2 of my flagship sites I moved since last update are back on 3.
Winners are grinners!
i’m looking forward to reading your advice on how not to get pr slapped by google. the recent update was alright for me, but i’d rather know what to do in advance of the next one.
I am excited for the announcement of winner.
Sad for you. But at least you still have a PR compare mine that is 0. Hehee. Oiopublisher 2 rocks!
Ben,
Where are the pictures of the puppy, I was expecting wonderful puppyness and I am sad to say I have been let down.

Hey there Ben, sorry to hear the news about the “slap”…I’m new to the whole “blogging” bit and am learning as I go (with everything) but I have to say that having a PR period is something to smile about, although I’d be pretty upset if I lost a rank…I think you’ll be back in no time flat cause you just have what it takes to get there
sweet dude looking forward to read on how to avoid a slappage, I hit pr4 and don’t want to get slapped down in the next quarter. Though i have found the extra pr has increased SE traffic by about 10%.
Has the drop affected yours?
I think community is a lot more important than crappy pagerank, and you seem to have a nice following on here so its all good!
Привет, вÑем! Хорошо напиÑано, еÑли б детальней конечно..
Good to have you back, Ben. That is classy not to post when you don’t have anything to say.
So, now knowing you have something to say…let’s get into it!
Good. At least you got PR
BTW, what’s your puppy name?
Hmm,. Good luck to everyone.
Aaaaaaah yeaaaaaah my brother from way back is back on the scene! Everybody pull up a seat! Yes sir!
Can’t wait to see what you got in store this month man!
Yeah, I agree…I’d rather wait for your “good post”.
Whoever wins that contest is going to be one happy camper.
Oh, and screw pagerank. We got your back!
Cheers, and good to know you’re “back in rare form”
Jay
have to agree that PR really doesn’t mean anything anymore.
Nice to see you back posting
Work with marketing and SERPs, PR is nothing nowadays
I agree that the PageRank itself doesn’t really metter, it’s still fun + exciting a bit (my first ever
)
What does the contest winner get?
Ben, I got Google-slapped too man. Same thing: from a 3 to a 2. But who cares. It’s not stopping you from doing what you do is it?
Keep up posting daily for roughly the last six months is not a good business.
