Viral Internet Marketing

Yesterday’s post was about how you can easily transmit your blog into space. While this is true and if you signed up you blog, or message is in fact being broadcasted into deep space. I am not sure how many of you delved deeper into the subject that brought about this post, but just in case I am going to cover it thoroughly today with a bit of depth. This will be one of the many upcoming internet marketing related posts I will be taking on to stay in line with the further narrowing of this blog’s niche. I hope this compels everyone to join in the discussion at the end. Internet Marketing can be very difficult for some, and at the same time a walk in the park. I am assuming that you don’t have it as easy as cake, and can still you some help for that extra edge. Let’s get to it.

The Blog In Space project was started as an exercise to show big companies and non believers that bloggers and their readers are a super powerful force, and that contrary to popular belief that traditional advertising was still the best way to push. As many of you already know this is not the case. This campaign offers definitive proof that if you blatantly appeal to a bloggers’ ego and desire for more traffic/attention, they will in turn happily link to you. And if your offer is appealing enough, where a few influential bloggers go, the rest will virally follow. I am sure you have experienced your fair share of these as one of the defining features of many “A” list bloggers is to effectively use this technique in their own favor. Let’s dig just a bit deeper and see exactly what preparation went into this project and how you can benefit from their work.

This project demonstrates the effectiveness of properly executed viral campaigns, which increase visibility in traditional media, show the effect on search engine results, prove the power of consumer generated media and draw enormous amounts of targeted traffic to a designated focal point.

Now what if you could do the same, maybe even on a smaller budget with smaller payout in terms of traffic? It is possible and often times replicated daily by numerous successful marketers across every niche of the world wide web.

Maybe you have a beautifully viral idea that you are just itching to deploy, first you need to have your ducks in a row. Let’s take a look at some things you definately need to be top gun on before flying off into the sunset here.

  1. You need a group of “influential sites, persona’s, etc” to go along with your project.
  2. Extensively Search Engine Optimized Sites ready for action go a long way in getting your feet off the ground. This is also the most cost effective way to start on your project before launching it.
  3. Bloggers are known for their propensity to add badges, buttons and graphics to their blog. So, the Blog in Space Web site features a badge page that allows users to choose from a variety of standard and animated graphics that bloggers could add to their blog to let everyone know that their blog was being transmitted into space. Play to their ego’s, hopes, love, fears, whatever it takes to move along the viral methodology.
  4. Think of the longevity of your campaign.
