Weekly Round Up
Posted on 08. Feb, 2009 by Benjamin Patton in Weekly Round up
Ah yes it seems we have hit our rhythm here once again. I have to say it still feels as good as it did last week to be back. I just want to take a second right off the bat here to thank everyone for putting it out there that I am back. In a blogosphere that seems to have all but screeched to a halt it seems that this site should be publishing still more often than the average. Which by the way was not an original goal. This week was the first week since I launched the weekly round up that I had a difficult time finding noteworthy posts to link to, mainly being that of the 50-60 blogs I usually read only a few had more than one or two updates.
I will save that discussion for tomorrows post, but today we need to dive right in and see what has peculated to the top of the blogosphere.
Exceptional Posts From My Part Of The Blogosphere:
First out of the box in this weeks link love is the man over at ChrisGuthrie.com. This last week Chris let the cat out of the bag as to his very admirable goal of becoming self employed. Now normally this would not pop up on most people’s radar, but I tend to think that Chris has all his marbles together and is rocking a great plan. If becoming self employed is a dream of yours then I suggest you take a look at his post about his own plans and keep an eye on him in the mean time.
One of my favorite marketing blogs has to be UnconventionalMarketing.com. Josh has been doing a superb job over there keeping the rest of us on the edge of our seat while we play catch up to his vanguard on the subject. This week Josh wrote an article about “How to develop your brand into a story” I honestly believe this is what I tried to do in the early days of my list marketing and then when I originally launched this blog. Although the story is always changing the fact remains that it has been an essential tool for my success and continued movement forward. I highly recommend this article as a read for you to help your own story out.
An old but not forgotten favorite blog of mine called StandOutBlogger.com wrote something this week that any person teetering on the edge of writing their first blog ought to read. Simply put you can Boost Your Business With Blogging. This can work hand in hand with the previous link love by Josh, but more importantly if anyone ever had any doubts as to what exactly a blog can do for a brand then I highly recommend stopping by and taking a look at this article.
What Did I Write About
Well this week was more or less about getting back into the scene. I feel I have done that about as much as anyone can since my neck of the woods has thinned out both site wise as well as content wise. After this submersion into the blogosphere I have noticed that updates and content are scarce and that quality content is even more rare than the precious metal gold. That being said starting Monday I will be going back into content overdrive mode. If you have been unable to get your fill of quality blogging and internet marketing tips content then I am here to rescue you from the abyss that is.
A short preview of this weeks topic include:
The Blogosphere slow down
Infoproducts and you
Your Blog Tune Up
Cruzer Enterprise edition flash drive Review
How to make your blog profitable
I will be starting a JV (joint venture) Giveaway series and then launching one at greatblogginggiveaway2.com
I also will be starting something else new this Monday called – Motivate Your Monday – Make sure you tune in and see how we do it here in my neck of the hood ;p

Thanks for the links. I look forward to next week. Motivate your Monday looks like it can be a very good idea.
Unfortunately I did not finish the project the way I wanted so it will be debuting next Monday!
Hi Ben, its a great way to thank your blog commenters by mentioning them in your blog post. Its a good idea
waiting for the day when i will jump from Top commentator list to the exceptional post area.
I just added you last night to my blog reading list, so be looking soon to see you up in the mix!
Hmmm. Why not look at some of my posts, maybe you can add me up as well to the your reading list..
You have been added as well, not sure where your blog went to on my list as I was reading it originally!
‘Your Blog Tune Up’ that sounds intriguing to the performance freak in me!
The slowdown I think is mainly due to the time of the year…heavy exam time. Couple this with the fact that blogging vs other online ventures is not as profitable, and in the current market climate more people are aiming for greater revenue. For me that is the explanation
Sounds like a great week! I haven’t had much action myself, I am trying launch a beta advertising program though. I hope to carry out strong posts through this week.
Thanks for the mention here and I am glad you visited my blog! Hope to get more interaction and maybe we could work some joint venture out..
Thanks for the reminder about Standoutblogger, Tom is a good guy and I haven’t been by there in a moment.
Good to have you back, Benjamin!
I’ve never read Chris Guthrie’s blog before, just added it to my reader!

Nice set of links. Will check them out.
I have also got something similar to these running on my blog. Its called Friday Link Party.
Hey dotcomdud, thanks for subscribing and hope you like what I have to say.
Thanks for the link Ben. I’ve been running websites for profit for about 4 years now and I’m sure I can reach the goal. It’s just taking me 4 years of mistakes to see the path that I can follow to get me on a self employed income level.
Anyway thanks again for the link and I’m glad to see you’re posting again. I hadn’t seen any posts a while back.

Oh, I never told you, did I? I’ve ditched all of my non-niche blogs in favor of a single catch-all personal blog. The one you probably have bookmarked was meant to be a personal blog with a single subject, but I never had much to say on it!
I have never heard UnconventionalMarketing.com I am cheking it now, looks nice, by the way why did you put “UnconventionalMarketing.com” as the actual domain name is “http://www.joshwhitford.com“?
Ben, thanks for the kind words and recognition. It’s funny to look back at my first blog posts and what I used to write about. I only hope now that more and more people are able to benefit freely from the ideas and information provided. As always Ben keep up the good work.
HI, I enjoyed your blog, I also have a website on the topic, I’ll ever visit, congratulations.
Congrats I really liked this place, I’ll come back and invite friends.
