roundemupThis week I decided to switch gears from helping you keep your blog running smoothly to another topic that I think has potential for anyone willing to try it. The three part series on Opt-In Email Marketing was a huge success, and I hope people actually take steps to try this at least once. The ability to provide yourself with an extra funnel of cash even if just to support your blog hosting and advertising is a step forward from where you are now. Those of us already using these tools to do this can attest that as long as you never give up you will turn a profit every month. While this series was in no way attempting to make you an internet millionaire it did layout the basic guidelines that many successful entrepreneurs use to start their Internet Marketing empires. This should be enough in itself especially with the step by step process to get you motivated. Which was my goal from the start!

Also this week we Reviewed “The Net Fool” Who as you can see is surely no fool at all. I am happy to bring everyone in my reach to this authors blog as the advice, commentary and layout of the site are top notch and original.

We also previewed wordpress 2.6 and what it will bring to the table in the form of additions and controversy. I really wish they would fix the media uploader as I really enjoyed using it instead of loading yet another application to my desktop which is usually overcrowded as is. Life will go on and word press will continue to be the worlds favorite blogging platform.

Also I decided it would be pertinent for me to share my tribulations with RSS feed counts and the randomly occurring spikes that have taken me 50% below current subscription rate and now what appears to be 50% above my subscription rate roughly speaking. Hopefully some of those 110 rss subs stick around because if so next week we will be throwing a party as so far this month we are beating the socks off of my previously stated goals for this blog. If this holds true we will have made over 100 posts and gained over 110 rss subs in just 3-4 months of content.  If it does not hold true we are still well on our way to breaking 100 and at our current rate of growth we should make it just in time for the end of the month!

The results from my blogging experiment are in while not stellar it shows that acting on reciprocity can actually benefit you much more than standing still and being passed by everyone else who is. Feel free to share your gains or losses in the comments section. As for me I faired well.

BenjaminPatton.com was ranked:
Authority: 43
Rank: 157,206

BenjaminPatton.com is now ranked:
Authority: 47
Rank:150,339

The only way I could see this having a higher net benefit for everyone is if everyone who participated would have duplicated my post on their own blog and so on and so fourth. This would have provided much more link back juice, but still not bad for 5 days of time and 5 mins of work. Feel free to continue the experiement and repost my original post on your blog listing the URL’s. I believe this would net us a much better gain with little extra work. Good Luck and link back to the original post if you do decide to participate so I can keep my post up to date as well.

Hey Ben, I am trying to stick around. I am impressed in your technorati rank! BTW, are you ever going to give out the prizes from the contest?

  6. Big Ben Patton (Reply) on Sunday 13, 2008

Hey Nathaniel I made an addendum to the comments on the post awarding the prizes for the Contest Extravaganza. If you send me an email directly with what price you won I can get you settled up and award the bonus. Use my contact page to email me :)
